Duct Fan
Ways to run heat duct outside between buildings?
I have two buildings that sit fairly close to each other, roughly 6' to 8' apart... One is heated and the other isn't... I'd like to run some sort of duct work between them without actually building something to connect the buildings together and then putting a duct fan inside the duct to blow hot air to the unheated room... I was thinking of maybe some type of plastic or pvc pipe or maybe some sort of black corrugated pipe with insulated duct inside it... Anyone have any other ideas or has anyone ever done anything similar??
I've used 6 & 8" diameter tubular duct with fiberglas insulation. The insulation has a waterproof outer covering. I think that would be the easiest way for you since in comes in various lengths. I bought mine from Star Steel in Detroit but you can find heating & cooling suppliers in your area. I doubt Home Depot or Lowes has everything but maybe they do. You'll need the flashing where it enters each building. The fan that fits inside the round duct is called a draft inducer. But if you have a forced-air furnace you won't need the fan.
Also, if the second building is a garage or any storage for gasoline powered vehicles or lawn mowers it is illegal to duct heat from another building that is occupied or lived in.

can you connect a 2.4Amp. duct booster fan directly to the EAC connection on a fanboard of a furnace?
Not sure I understand your question, but I think you could just parrelel it with your existing fan, instead of taking it off of the circuit board. That is what I did when I added a duct booster fan to a long heat run in my house. Those just have a fractional horsepower induction motor on them, so they dont take much electricity.
