Would LEDs light frosted acrylic well?
I'm using 10 LEDs in a horizontal line for a battery level meter but I don't want to see the LEDs so I was thinking of putting some frosted acrylic (this one http://www.ponoko.com/make-and-sell/show-material/15-acrylic-arctic-ice-frosted-1-side-) over them. I'm hoping it will produce a good diffused effect so that instead of showing the individual LEDs, the light diffuses and spreads across the frosted acrylic and looks like a kind of "bar" of light. Do you think this will work?
Yes, should work quite well, you can also get frosted acrylic in Opal shades that have 'hiding power' ie Hide the shape of the bulb behind the sheet.
These are also available in gloss.
