Growing Hydroponics Lights bonsai tree in my room?
its a juniper nana in particular. i want to keep a bonsai tree in my room but im not sure if its possible.
i was thinking of setting it under and spotlight/grow light of some sort. kinda like those lights they use in hydroponics to keep my tree alive. what do you think? or are there any other bonsai tree that would work better instead...also how much would a juniper bonsai or other tree cost? thanks
Junipers do not hold up well indoors because they require cold winter temperatures to survive. Unless you keep your room in the 40 F degree range in winter, you will need to select another species.
Bonsai that are used indoors should be tropical species plants, meaning any species that comes from a region where temps are warm all year round, just like your home. The species you choose should match the light you have available in the location you plan to keep it. I suspect you may only have low light and that will limit your options.
Compact fluorescent flood lights are economical and effective if placed close above your plant. However, as the sole source of light they are adequate only for low and medium light plants.
Bonsai cost depend mostly on age and artistry. Top quality Bonsais are hundreds of years old and cost thousands of dollars. Young tropical species Bonsais can be purchased for around $50. I would be suspicious of anything much cheaper than that.
Do some research to find low light, tropical species bonsai plants.
