Growing Hydroponics Vegetables
What vegetables can I grow right now in Kabul Afghanistan?
I'm currently living and working in Kabul. Some coworkers and I are soon moving to a new location and we are thinking about growing some of our own food. We are interested in soil, containers, and hydroponics. We realize that it is pretty late in the season right now (almost July) but we would like to know what veggies we should try. Some or all plants may be moved indoors and possibly supplemented with grow lights when it starts getting cold outside.
We're pretty much just looking for ideas
It may depend on what seeds/seedlings you can get there. Take a walk around and see what other people are growing. Even though it's late in the season you might be able to squeeze in a crop of whatever they're growing. I'm in Australia so sorry I don't have any idea what the weather is like in Afghanistan. My suggestion for easy things to grow would be herbs like basil, coriander, parsley, some leafy lettuce and other leafy greens (if it's not too hot), some radishes - these are things with relatively short growing periods. Another thing that might be interesting is to set up a micro-climate in your garden to extend the summer growing season (like block out cold autumn winds etc). Good luck with it.
