If a lamp is rated for up to a 40 watt bulb, can I use a flourescent bulb with higher light output safely?
I know a 100watt flourescent only uses 25 watts, but I don't know if it would still overheat the socket.
That fluorescent is a 25 watt lamp. You can use it in a 40 watt fixture with no problem.
