Olive Tree
If you planted an olive tree in Tennessee (zone 7a)-would it survive? Would it produce olives?
I heard most of Tennessee has a subtropical climate and I heard olives are subtropical fruit so I thought it might survive. Are olive trees more cold hardy when they are mature?
Depends on where in Tn. I live on the other side of the mountains and they will freeze here. But if your careful, cover them when ever it gets cold and you never get much below freezing, (they begin to die at 22 degrees).
Don't try a olive orchard until you know your actual temp ranges and you have a back up in case of freezing. I lived in central Florida and my olive tree froze one year.
