Since poppy seeds come from poppy plants are the poppy plants?
ALL poppy flowers are is there a special breed that only produces the poppy seed?

Poppy Seeds used in cooking and for flowers around your house are called Papaver Orientale. Each flower stem will make one seed pod when the flower petals fall, that contain approx. 140,000 seeds.
The Papaver Orientale contains only trace amounts of Opium Alkoloids.
Papaver Somniferum is the Opium Poppy and it is illegal to have any stems, seeds, or flowers in the United States. They are considered a Schedule I drug. Possession of Papaver Somniferum or parts are punishable by up to 25 yrs. in federal prison.
It is an Urban Myth that cooking poppy seeds are from Opium Poppys. When you buy poppy seeds over the e-net, you are getting Oriental Poppy seeds. Who are you going to complain too? Call the DEA and tell them you tried to commit an felony?

Anyone have recipe for a Pasta Salad Using Linguini, Poppy Seeds and Italian Dressing?
My aunt used to make a pasta salad out of linguini, poppy seeds and Italian Dressing ( I think it was Italian) and I don't have the recipe. Is anyone familiar with this dish? I have looked on all of the recipe sites I could find and can't seem to locate a similar dish. I would appreciate any help.
Just a reminder, the recipe I'm looking for has poppy seeds in it. Thanks
LINGUINE SALAD (COLD)
1 lb. linguine or pasta of your choice
1 (8 oz.) bottle Viva Italian dressing
McCormick salad supreme spice
Fresh broccoli tips
1 cucumber, quartered and sliced
Cherry tomatoes, halved
1 onion, sliced
3 stalks, cut up celery
1/2 jar green olives, sliced
1/2 c. black olives, cut up
Break up linguine and cook according to directions on package. Drain and cool. Sprinkle with spice according to taste and mix. Add dressing and toss. Add vegetables and toss again (vegetables can vary according to preference). This salad is improved if allowed to stand 3 or 4 hours.

Opium, morphine, percocet, darvocet, codiene” (thank you)….yes, and oxycotin and roxycotin…and they are no way compareable to MJ…..My point is, unless the FDA, Government, Insurance companies and (more improtantly) drug companies can earn a HUGE profit from legalizing pot, then pot will remain illegal. However,addictive pain medications are handed out freely by Dr.’s without any recourse….Pot is not a segway into harder medications although some may think so. But, today, it appears more doctors are inclined to presrcibe addictive medications rather than support that medical MJ would be better for their patients….its two ends of the same spectrum…And my point is, medical MJ may be a better introduction to pain management rather than Opium, morphine, percocet, darvocet, codiene, oxycotin and roxycotin, where the side effects are more extreme, addicting and even lethal.
