THANKS SOOO MUCH!!!
I have a Wacom Intuos. Bamboos aren't bad but they aren't as sensitive as a Intuos. If you plan on using it more as a mouse go with a bamboo, if you want sensitivity and control for doing art on the computer go with the Intuos.

Digital Drawing Tablet?
I am an illustrator and portrait artist and I am considering getting a tablet for the computer. I know the work will not have same quality/look as work done on paper and that has kept me away from the switch to this day. But I just hate all the paper waste and art supplies lying around that take up space and much of which will end up in land fills or recycle centers.
A computer geek friend of mine said things have improved vastly since my C64 days and the sensitivity of the pen is almost the same and writing on paper.
I was curious what the pros and cons were/good models and how people who have them like them and why they like them.
The quality of the result has more to do with the artist wielding the tablet and stylus and less with the tablet itself. No artist begins his "career" just picking up a pencil and piece of paper and starts making masterpieces. ALL of us, even those for whom drawing comes more easily, have to spend countless hours, across the span of many years to improve our craft. One should also expect a learning curve to get any good at using a digital tablet.
Since the first time picking up a stylus, about fifteen years ago, I KNEW that it would be the future of digital freehand art and, that drawing with a mouse (compare it to drawing with a brick) would be as clumsey as drawing with one's foot.
ANY make, model or size digital tablet is an improvement over using a mouse for freehand drawing and, in the hands of an expert, the end results are indistinguishable from hand drawn work on paper. I have been using a CHEAP, small, Wacom Pen Partner for over five years and have an even cheaper and smaller DigiPro on my second system. I am quite happy with both.
If this is your first tablet, I can suggest you start with an inexpensive one and practice the heck out of it. The size of the tablet matters LOT less than the size of the monitor. If you can draw well, you can draw small. And guess what? We ALL have to zoom in on the image to work on the details. And, the bigger the MONITOR, the less we have to zoom in and out.

Hello Wouter,
fall in love to your children, your wife or drive alone to the seaside. Perhaps it will change your inspiration. If not, buy the digital Pen – or buy it not and sell all other photo gear.
You will see, what will happen – if not – fall in love with yourself and you will see what happens. Nothing!? Okay, nothing. Sometimes there is nothing to do, because nothing have to happen. Just do it. Do nothing. Wait and see.
All best, titus
