Will a plant still root with a rooting gel if you are using soil instead of rock wool cubes?

I'm growing some plants and i am using olivia's cloning gel and i would like to make clones of my plant and i would like to know if it is okay to dip it in the solution and re- root using soil?

All depends on the soil that you put them into and the type of plant you are taking cuttings of.
A river sand and coconut coir 50/50 mix is perfect.
The soil you are using needs to be low in nutrients, free draining and free of contaminants like fungus or mildew.
At the end of the day it really depends on the plant. I grow many different species in all types of soil mediums. Plain old garden soil is sometimes better.

Good luck! Try a search on the net for your specific plant for more info or you can email me at my profile for more specific tips. ;-)

10 point for best answer?

I am currently growing my favorite plants indoors. I went out to home depot and bought a grow light and some rock wool for my seeds. After germination and my seed opened I put them under the light. I got one seed growing in soil in a small pot. Anyways last night I put my plants under the light and the soil and rock wool dry out so fast it isn’t even funny I need to consistently water the plants so they don’t dry out why is my light doing this? I got a fan right next to it for ventilation and the light still is strong enough to dry out my soil and rock wool. The light bulb is 20 cm or so above the little weak plant and it still dries everything out. The light has to be on for 18 hours a day and yes I am growing in a small closet. What am I doing wrong? Why does everything keep getting dried out? Is my light to strong? It’s a grow light…. I’ve already had to throw out 2 plants cause of this problem and I know over watering isn’t good for the plant because it will drown it.

the light needs to be further away from the plant and also you need a humidifier in room with the humidity maintained the favourite plants of mine as well will grow much better 70 percent and above will help

  1. Don't mind me. I'm just sitting here waiting for Python to shed his brilliant light on this one, too! However,Twinkle & Black Sheep have the same tune but Mary Had a Little Lamb is different.
