Rotary Sprinkler Head

How much effect does changing the nozzle size have on rotary sprinkler heads?
Will a smaller flow nozzle help with pressure/flow through the sprinkler head. I only have 5 GPM and it seems to have trouble pushing 2 rotary heads @ 2.5 GPM each. I am hoping if I put 1.5 GPM nozzles on the heads it will help this problem.
Pressure and flow 101
It's a common misconception that using smaller pipe will raise pressure. smaller pipe actually drops pressure by increasing friction loss. However, by reducing your usage from 5 gpm to 3 gpm, you will conserve pressure at the nozzle, which will actually make them spray further and work better. Like i said in answer to your last question, your water budget is 5 gpm. You can use that any way you want 5 1 gpm heads, 2 2.5 gpm heads, etc. However, if you aren't running your 2 heads at 2.5 gpm, I don't think you're really getting 5 gpm. You could have a pump issue, and honestly, 5 gpm isn't much flow.
