why would someone put tinfoil on their windows?
Across the street from my house is another apartment that has covered all their windows with tinfoil, and at night you can just see a small streak of light escaping.
I watch WEEDS, and I know Silas uses tinfoil on the walls for his grow-house. Do you think these people across the street have a grow-house? Or do you know of any other reason to tinfoil your windows?
Maybe they are third shift workers and have to sleep during the day. Curtains and miniblinds still let sunlight through and if you are a light sleeper, it is very distracting.
Maybe they are using cheap solar panels to store energy.
Maybe they are nudists and don't like peeping toms.
Maybe they collect strange bugs and have to keep the house dark.
Or maybe they are transmitting alien codes and waiting for their UFO to arrive.
Better keep a close eye on them.

Might it be a good idea to use one-way glass in a greenhouse?
It occurred to me that if light was allowed through from the outside, but the inside surface was a mirror, then this might result in an abundance of light. Getting even more carried away, I wonder if theoretically you could have one-way glass on every wall and a mirrored or reflective surface on the floor. Could this create a super-greenhouse that could grow tropical plants in a temperate climate? Or is there a reason why this wouldn't work?
It would also reflect all the heat. Greenhouses have a vent system to keep temperatures reasonable. It's not that they need more light, they need protection from too much heat. Some green houses paint the foundation black inside to absorb more heat for the cold nights.
