for 72 watts cfl lamp we are going to use 2 watts of electronic ballast.
Can u tell me how this 2 watts (ballast wattage) has been arrived????????????

Doesn't seem right. Ballasts are rated simply just as the bulbs are. The ballast wattage appears on the label.

Life of an Electronic Ballast if switch on and off approximately every 10 seconds.?


I know the bulbs wouldn't last very long. But if the fixture was turned on for 10 seconds then off for 10 seconds, about how long would a standard 60 watt Ballast last?

Secondly are there special Ballasts that can be used for casses such as this?

I don't necessarily agree with tlbs, altho he's very good and could well be right here.

You said ELECTRONIC ballast. Is there a make/break mechanical contact? If so, it's unlikely to survive more than several K operations. If not, then I doubt its lifetime would be any shorter than if it were just left on -- it would probably outlast the bulbs several times over in this case.
